Illustrations for Broken: Book One of Promise
This is Principle Hyle after my main character had her way with him. It took me quite a while to create the scales on this slithering serpent.
This is a Flying Cuttlefish, a Magical Being which almost killed my main character. The prospect of capturing the movement of all of the tentacles was a bit daunting, but in the end it was worth it.
This is a Velociraptor. It took me at least three hours to draw the scaled; the large ones were especially difficult. The eye was an enjoyable challenge.
This particular Magical Being is a Nightmare of the Sea whose name is Dragon's Blood. The scales, like the others, took quite a while. To create a dark effect I used charcoal and to create a glowing eye I simple kept that part of the drawing untouched so that the white paper would show through in the dim background.Illustrations for Fulfilling: Book Two of Promise
This is a Death of the River. If you look closely in the upper right corner there is the shadow of a catfish.
This is a Devil, although his face might not look like it. Since this creature is actually one of my characters cursed into becoming this Magical Being, I tried to make the facial expression seem somewhat kind to reveal the Latin Magician within.
This is a Shadow Raptor. I used charcoal to create the shadows and bright white.
Illustrations for Made: Book Three of Promise
These are Star Birds, they're basically like flying piranhas. To create the effect of the crystals along the edge, I shaped an eraser and stamped the charcoal off. For the birds themselves, I simply erased bird-like figures.
